Tarot and Kabbalah: Arcanum 13

Arcanum 13

In the Thirteenth Arcanum, death embraces two aspects. The first aspect is the death of all human beings, and the second aspect is from the esoteric point of view.

In the first aspect, all of the texts of occultism, pseudo-occultism, pseudo-Rosicrucianism, and Theosophy affirm that one is born at a certain hour and dies on a determined day, hour, and second in accordance with the law of destiny. This concept is not precise because the Lords of Karma deposit determined “cosmic values” into human beings. One can preserve that “capital” and life can be prolonged for a long time. Life can be shortened by squandering those values.

Life is prolonged by accumulating cosmic capital. If there are no good deeds, the Lords of Karma may prolong life but only in determined cases.

The profound wisdom of the Fourteenth Arcanum is classically divided into three parts:

  1. Transmutation of the creative energy
  2. Transformation
  3. Transubstantiation

We are going to study each one of these parts separately.

Tarot and Kabbalah: Arcanum 15

Arcanum 15

The Fifteenth Arcanum corresponds to that which the Bible points to as Satan, and it also corresponds to that which the Egyptians call Seth in his negative aspect.

If Kabbalistically we add the numbers of the number 15, we have 1 + 5 = 6; we already know that the number six corresponds to sex. This signifies that within sex is a major force that can liberate the human being, but also a major force that can enslave the human being.

Let us remember the Egyptian “constellation of Orion.” It is evident that this constellation is governed by twelve great masters. Esoterically speaking, it is stated that these twelve masters hold hands, but the sixth master is missing; meaning that in order to reach realization of the Self, “we need to lift the veil of Isis,” in other words, the Adamic sexual veil.

The Sixteenth Arcanum is the Fulminated Tower, which in Kabbalah is known as the Tower of Babel. The Bible refers to this Tower of Babel. The falling of the initiated from this Tower, where the initiate forms the inverted pentagram in his downfall, is observed.

The sacred sign of the infinite represents the brain, the heart, and sex. If sex dominates the brain, then the downfall occurs—the Fulminated Tower, the inverted star of five points, the upside-down pentagram; then the human being with the head aiming downwards and with the two legs aiming upwards is precipitated to the bottom of the abyss. Let us remember the sacred statement, “The infinite is equal to the pentalpha.”

Arcanum 17

The star of eight points of the Seventeenth Arcanum represents Venus, the Star of Dawn. The work with gold and with silver, the work with the Sun and the Moon, is found represented in this arcanum. The ancient alchemists stated that the transformation of the Moon into the Sun must be performed. To understand this is necessary. What they meant was, “We must abandon the lunar path and enter the solar path.”

All people are lunar. The Moon brings them into existence and the Moon takes them away. Let us analyze this in detail: the first seven years of childhood are lunar, so the Moon brings them.

The second septenary from seven to fourteen is Mercurian. The child moves from one place to another, the child goes to school, the child needs to move.
